You can also apply an extrude to either a vertex or edge. For a vertex,

you will get an edge as a result, and in case you select an edge, it

creates a plane (Figure 3.6).

How to use the extrude? The easiest way to trigger an extrude is with

the E key in Edit Mode. The shortcut calls the Extrude Region option.

After selecting the target elements, you want to extrude, press the E key

to start.

If you perform the extrude entirely with the mouse, you must left-click

somewhere to end the transformation. That gives you only visual

feedback on the length of your resulting shape.

Like the move transformation learned in chapter 2, you can also assign

numeric values to each extrude. For instance, if you want to create an

extrude of a face with two units in size:

1. Select the face

2. Press the E key

3. Type 2

4. Press RETURN to confirm
